SCIENTIFIC CENTER OF MINING GEOLOGY, GEOECOLOGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NAS OF UKRAINE is a scientific state institution under the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine. It has a history dating back to 1929, when a research group of the Donvuhilya Trust was established.

After the opening of the Central Research Survey Bureau (CNDMB) in Leningrad in 1932, this group became part of its structure as the Kharkiv group of the CNDMBU, and since 1944 as the Donetsk branch of the CNDMBU. In 1945, the CNDMB was transformed into the All-Union Research Surveying Institute (VNDMI), and the Donetsk branch of the CNDMBU was transformed into the Ukrainian branch of the VNDMI. With the independence of Ukraine, the Ukrainian branch of VNDMI by order of the State Coal Industry of Ukraine in December 1992 was transformed into the Ukrainian State Research and Design Institute of Mining Geology, Geomechanics and Surveying. Since 1996, the institute has had dual subordination to the Ministry of Coal Industry of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 1998, UkrNDMI became part of the structure of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
